BARDON GETS GREEN!

DesignCrafted Bardon Cabinetry realizes that we are part of an industry that can have a profound effect on the environment.  We don’t feel like that “profound effect” should always be negative—we believe there are things we can do NOW to create a more positive effect.

We are rising to the challenge of GOING GREEN and although it may be a journey without end, we want our customers to know that we plan on staying on that path by constantly striving to find new and innovative ways to profoundly affect our planet—in a positive way.  Here are some examples of what our company is currently doing:

  • EPA regulations allow us a certain level of VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) each year in the state of California.  VOCs are emitted as gases from a variety of chemical products including paints and lacquers.  Not only do we leave most of our allotted VOCs unused, we do not sell them to other companies so they can never become a pollutant
  • We purchase all of our lumber and wood material from a Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Certified Vendor.  This vendor also supplies us with Echo Wood, an environmentally responsible alternative for our new line of cabinetry.
  • Our wood shavings, sawdust and scrap wood is recycled or is offered to alternative use programs such as high school wood shops.
  • We are continually looking for new and innovative ways to digitally manage and file our process paperwork to reduce our paper use.
  • Invoices are delivered electronically whenever possible.
  • We recycle our paper, cardboard, plastic bottles, and aluminum cans.
  • In our manufacturing facility, in addition to using mostly natural light from our skylight system, the lighting fixtures throughout our building are being transitioned to highly efficient fluorescent versions.  Lighting fixtures in our showrooms and administrative office are also being transitioned.
  • We shut off lights as well as our dust collection system when our manufacturing facility is not in use.
  • Lights in unoccupied offices or areas are shut off.
  • Automated thermostats reduce energy usage by changing temperatures when our facilities are not occupied.
  • We donate unwanted kitchen cabinetry to San Diego’s local chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
  • All of our staff members have been commissioned to continually identify new opportunities for improvement.
